Faith Walk- Our Story Is God’s Story

You ever stopped and thought “wow, I prayed for this. It’s here. It’s Happening.”

Here’s our story …

Let’s go back to December 2017 when I walked into the head of HR office to hand over my two-week notice. I’ve worked at my corporate job for about 3 years in it was very stressful at times & the last year it became unbearable to walk through the doors. I woke up every morning dreading those 8 hours.  I was trapped in a toxic environment in didn’t even know it because it had become normal to me. I didn’t realize how it affected me mentally/physically, my marriage and my health. God spoke to me one day and I knew it was time for me to make my exit from this job.

Marcus & I came up with a plan to save as much money as we possible could as we both knew resigning from my job was in my best interest.  Let me also remind you guys we got married June 2017 so imagine dealing with the stress from the job, day-to-day events, trying to balance friendships and adjusting to the married life …your girl was struggling in life. Jumping ship from my full-time job was undoubtedly one of the scariest career decisions I’ve made in my life thus far. But even though it had my eyes watering, and my palms sweating, I’m glad I did it.

I am happy to say as of today these were the best 7 months of my LIFE. I was able to start my blog Capturedbydartis. I was able to pick up additional career skills for my next role in the corporate world, give my husband all of me, and get my health until control. We were still able to tithe on every dollar we had coming into our household. God will make a way out of know way if you trust him..

When you are rooted in Christ, it doesn’t matter where you are planted.

We decided that we wanted to relocate right before we got married. We felt Charlotte had definitely served it’s purpose in our lives. Marcus, would start his job search early 2018, interviews after interviews with no offer. You can imagine the stress level we were both experiencing during these times. But you see God doesn’t test us because He doesn’t know how strong we are. Instead, He tests us because WE don’t know how strong  WE ARE — and you’ll realize this when times of testing come. Later, we would learn that this tranition would be the test of our faith.

For we live by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).

Those words seem simple enough. Right? or Nah?

I’ve learned that these words, this simple concept, “For we Live by Faith, not by sight” can be a much tougher assignment. We would learned that it would require tremendous courage, faith, fasting, praying, and strength. At times it seem as if we were misunderstood and even abandoned. But because we knew God had something BIGGER for us we stayed the course. See you must be willing to give up any semblance of control of your life that you thought you might have. -note: this would be the hardest part for me.

You must be willing to look like a complete fool. Sure, we moved out of our townhouse we lived in for 3 years; then into a Airbnb for one month, and then back into another townhouse for a month to month lease. We heard everything from “You guys are doing way too much” or “maybe this move is not meant to happen for you guys” comments. However, we knew TRUSTING God was critical during this transition.  Listen, what God has for you it is for YOU. When God speaks to you it’s not for everyone to understand that goes back to making sure God is the center of your life in not people.

But this journey would be a blessing and rewarding for us.  It was a journey that was exciting, life-altering, and mind-boggling. It was a journey that allowed us to see and experience God as he was meant to be: in all his fullness and grace. Walking by faith and not by sight requires you to go to a place you do not know, one that God will reveal as you walk in obedience.

We traveled to Maryland for a wine festival, my wife went to Cancun for Kendra’s Cancun Bachelorette Party . We had weekend trips to the beach, and our 1 yr Anniversary was celebrated on a 8 day cruise to La Romana, Grand Turk, Curacao, and Aruba My Trip to Grand Turk: Turks & Caicos Island & Curaçao Itinerary: How I Spent My Day in Curaçao with friends and family…Marcus, even got his yearly Miami fix lol.

In spite of all the challenges, God provided and blessed us with the right opportunity to move to Dallas, TX!

We were obedient with God and received many blessings. Despite, all the challenges we faced, we were still able to travel(our favorite thing to do). Some events we were able to attend; Maryland for a Caribbean Wine Festival,  I was able to go to Cancun for Kendra’s Cancun Bachelorette Party . We had weekend trips to Wrightsville Beach, and our 1 yr Anniversary was celebrated on a 8 day cruise to La Romana, Grand Turk, Curacao, and Aruba My Trip to Grand Turk: Turks & Caicos Island & Curaçao Itinerary: How I Spent My Day in Curaçao with friends and family…Marcus, even got his yearly Miami fix lol.

Lastly, God provided and blessed us with the right opportunity to move to Dallas, TX!
